Jordan Pass, general studies senior, is the shortstop for the IUS baseball team.
He began playing baseball when he was 3 years old and has played baseball for Male High School, Marshall University and is currently participating in his fourth season at IU Southeast.
Pass said he credits his grandfather for inspiring him. His grandfather played for the White Sox.
“My family is a huge reason I decided to play baseball,” Pass said. “I could not do this without all of their support.”
Pass said he plans on pursuing a career in professional baseball.
“My favorite baseball team is the Atlanta Braves,” Pass said. “If I could play for any team, then that would be the one.”
Pass’ last season batting average was .374.
Pass said he also makes time for his studies, family, friends and workouts.
Pass said college students should be encouraged to play a sport.
“It gives you the whole college experience,” Pass said.
He said baseball has made him a stronger person, both mentally and physically.
“It teaches you good communication skills and how to work together as a team,” Pass said. “Baseball has been my life, and I don’t see that changing.”
Baseball has also provided Pass with the confidence and determination to reach his goals.
“Baseball has given me the strength to overcome adversity,” Pass said.
“Last season was the best in IUS history,” Pass said. “Our team won the conference and played in the national
tournament.”
