Students suspected of smoking marijuana

Nov. 2 at 12:08 p.m. A caller reported suspicious activity inside a light blue van parked in the Dogwood Parking Lot by the IUS Lake. The caller thought two people may have been smoking marijuana. Turns out they were students smoking cigarettes in their car.

SGA inept, does nothing

Politicking is a hard game to play, requiring a balance of professionalism and properly executed ideas. Unfortunately, your Student Government Association hardly ever has the chance to do that, seeing as how they hardly do anything at all. Almost every week, they amend their bylaws and talk about what the organization needs. What’s missing here? Oh, yeah, the student body.

IUS Police look into campus disturbance

Oct. 12 at 11:20 a.m. There was a possible domestic disturbance on Circle Drive in front of Knobview Hall. A male subject was hitting a vehicle with his backpack and yelling at the female driver. Subject then got into the vehicle and left campus. Louisville Metro Police were notified to do a welfare check at residence.

Police Blotter: Car drives through McCullough Plaza

While patrolling, an officer saw a vehicle driving on the sidewalk near McCullough Plaza at a high rate of speed. Four people were in the vehicle — none of them were IUS students. The driver, Joseph Brooks, 18, was arrested for reckless driving. The other three people were issued trespass warnings and were released. The vehicle was towed.

Math Lab employee arrested

A part-time staff member of the IUS Math Lab was arrested in the Evergreen East Parking Lot on Sept. 22. Robert J. Veith, Math Lab staff member, was arrested for reckless driving near campus and refusing to let a car pass.

Student drinking, smoking reported

Sept. 17 at 12:03 a.m. Loud students and possible drinking was reported in Grove Lodge. However, the officer found no signs of alcohol. Sept. 20 at 5:20 p.m. A car in the Hickory Parking Lot had its doors open. An officer was dispatched. The owner was e-mailed, and IUS Police advised the car owner to call if items were missing.

Students in need of better technology

I like IU Southeast. It’s a great school, and I’ve learned a lot here. Many of my professors have done a great job of furthering my education. That said, my old high school has an edge on us when it comes to media technology. A lot of their equipment is superior to ours. Keep reading. It’s almost embarrassing.
