IUS Police assisted in the arrest of Charles A. Jones III, 38, on the charge of intimidation.
The charge was a result of Jones making threats to the IUS Police on Feb.2.
Feb. 16
Miranda L. Becht had her car towed by IUSPD when she was cited for having expired tags on her vehicle. The tags were expired for more than a year.
Feb. 16
A student was walking through the Evergreen Lot when she was suddenly backed into by a car and knocked down.
IUS Police was called and called an ambulance to attend to the student.
When help arrived, the student said she was fine and refused treatment.
Feb. 16
Annette Wyandotte, dean of Arts and Letters, called in a welfare check for a student who was crying in the hallway of Knobview Hall.
The student was not violent, but would not calm down. IUS Police found student to be sick, and her professor drove the student to the loading dock of University Center where an IUS Police officer took her to the first aid room in the police office.
Feb. 17
IUS Police responded to a student in need of assistance at Applebee’s on Grant Line Rd. IUS Police took the student home.
Feb. 17
While on routine patrol, an IUS Police officer noticed a skateboard behind a car in the Sycamore Lot. The officer observed the car was running, and approached to see if the skateboard belonged to the occupant.
When he knocked on the window, the driver lowered it about a quarter of the way. Then the driver quickly rolled the window back up when he saw the officer.
The officer knocked again, and that is when he smelled marijuana and asked the driver and his passenger to step out of the car.
Back up was called and the car was searched. The driver said he was an artist studying graphic design, and that was why he was smoking marijuana.
The passenger said his major was environmental science and that was why he used marijuana. The subjects were told the violation would be handled by IU Southeast, but there could be possible court action.
Feb. 18
Another smoke alarm went off in the dorms, when a pot of burning oil set it off in Grove Lodge. Luckily, no food was harmed in the making of this dinner.
Feb. 18
Someone vandalized one of the IUS Police cruisers while it was parked in the dock area of University Center.
The Dodge Charger [unit #206] was damaged on the passenger rear quarter panel, the window area and below the side view mirror of the driver’s door.
It appeared that a small hammer-like instrument was used to cause the damage. Similar damage was reported on one of the IUS Police officer’s personal vehicles.
