Tech-savvy students and faculty alike at IU Southeast are wondering the same question: Where is Adobe Creative Cloud?
IU’s Associate Vice President Sue Workman is on Adobe’s education advisory board, and they will soon make a decision on how Adobe Creative Cloud will be licensed through IUware. University Information Technology Services (UITS) has been discussing license agreements for Creative Cloud with Adobe since Fall 2012, according to a UITS Knowledge Base post.
IUware is an IU resource that provides IUS students and faculty with free access and licenses to many different software suites. Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, Adobe Creative Suite 6, Anti-Virus and more, all available for free.
IUware usually provides the newest versions and releases not long after they’re released. Adobe’s latest design and production suite, however, is nowhere to be found.
Adobe’s Creative Suite (now Creative Cloud for the new release) is a suite of professional design and production software. In it are programs like After Effects and Premiere Pro for video editing, Audition for audio editing and mastering, Photoshop for image manipulation, and InDesign for graphic design. Adobe released the new version of the suite in June 2013, “Creative Cloud.” The new suite brought updates to all of their programs and an integrated cloud storage system built into the entire program, according to Adobe’s website.
Users of Adobe’s Creative Suite 6 have been anticipating the IUware release of Adobe Creative Cloud for some time, but it is not yet available.
Workman and Adobe are working diligently to reach an agreement to bring Creative Cloud to IUware as soon as possible.
