Schimpff’s Confectionery gets an upgrade

For two years, Schimpff’s Confectionery has been under construction. Expanding, remodeling and restoring has been the plan since day one and just a little over a week ago, the 126-year-old building in downtown Jeffersonville reopened as a “bigger and better” candy store.

Schimpff’s confectionery specializes in all-things-candy as well serving comfort-style food for lunch. Owned by Jill and Warren Schimpff, the store takes on an old school look.

The expansion started by taking over the building next door that was previously a wallpaper company owned by the Schimpffs’ great uncle. The building was empty for years until it went on the market. The two snagged the space and began construction.

“We were debating for a while whether or not to expand the confectionery,” said Jill Schimpff. “Once the building went up for sale, Warren and I had no choice but to grab the space.”

The Schimpff’s added seating so customers to sit and enjoy their food. The space added more retail display and allowed room for newer product as well as more decorating room for the holidays.
