IUS police investigated a report of criminal mischief in a men’s restroom in University Center South. What was suspected of being gang symbols above the urinal turned out to just be someone’s initials. Good work, boys.

A Horizon staff writer locked her keys in her car in the Central Parking Lot when she came in to help copy edit for the Feb. 22 edition of the newspaper. IUS Police were successful in opening her car for her.
Feb. 23 at 2:09 a.m.
A smoke alarm went off in Woodland Lodge when a resident burned edible items on a heating appliance. The edible items were removed. Lodge cooking lesson No. 1. — Residents should always use the stove to burn food items, not a space heater.

A smoke alarm was set off in Grove Lodge when a resident burned their breakfast. OK, so just burning bacon isn’t enough for you people now?

IUS Police received a report of vehicles parked in handicapped parking spots without proper tags or permits. Officer found multiple illegally parked vehicles, and each was given a citation, even though they didn’t bother getting the officer anything in return.

IUS Police received a report of vehicle illegally parked in blue parking spots in the Evergreen Parking Lot. Officer was set to write tickets. Don’t be sad. Blue spot tickets are cheaper than handicapped tickets.
Feb. 24 at 12:16 a.m.
IUS Police officer discovered two subjects trying to get a car door open in the Magnolia Parking Lot. The vehicle did not belong to either subject, so the officer made the subjects locate the owner of the vehicle. Once they found the owner, it was confirmed that it was OK with the owner. Does this really need a smart-ass comment?
Feb. 25 at 9:29 p.m.
IUS Police investigated a report of a marijuana smell in Meadow Lodge. Officer didn’t smell anything, so the complaint was unfounded. Now if they can just figure out what that smell is in the Game Room.
