A vehicle rolled from its parking space in the Evergreen West Parking Lot and was blocking the path of through traffic. IUS Police contacted the student who returned the vehicle to its space. Hopefully, they engaged the parking brake this time.
March 10 at 10:16 a.m.
An IUS student was injured while exiting the elevator in Knobview Hall near the Barr Gallery. The accident happened when the student slipped and fell on a recently mopped floor because she didn’t notice the orange wet-floor caution cone. She refused the offer of transportation to receive medical care, but did accept the use of the IUS Police Department’s electric wheel chair and an ice pack for her swollen knee.
March 10 at 12:53 p.m.
A vehicle backed into another parked vehicle in the Central Parking Lot. IUS Police took an accident report and contacted the owner of the damaged vehicle to let them know about the situation.
March 10 at 1:35 p.m.
IUS Police received a report of a person preaching in the main lobby of the IUS Library. When the officer arrived, he found the person enjoying a cup of coffee in the Library Bistro. The preacher was shown where free speech events are allowed in McCullough Plaza and gave information on how to schedule these events through Campus Life.
March 10 at 4:21 p.m.
IUS Police stopped a vehicle in the Meadow Lodge Parking Lot. The driver was given a warning for not properly using a seat belt and also for use of a cell phone while operating a vehicle.
March 12 at 1:55 a.m.
IUS Police responded to a report of loud noise at University Drive and Klerner Lane. Upon arriving at the location, officers discovered an accident involving a white Jeep Cherokee and a tree. The driver of the vehicle, Joseph Rowley, 22, was found intoxicated, and was charged with operating a vehicle under the influence. Rowley’s vehicle was towed from the site, and he was transported to Floyd County Jail.
