Petty reunites with Mudcrutch

Before Tom Petty broke big with the Heartbreakers, he was the bassist and singer for Mudcrutch. Petty, then 17-years-old, accompanied by Mike Campbell, Tom Leadon, Benmont Tench and Randall Marsh, was drawing attention in the Florida bar scene dancing with Mary Jane and just beginning to run down his dream.

After the ice storm forced IU Southeast to close for four days the Academic Policies Committee discussed the idea of extending the school year to make up the missed days. To their credit, it seems they have decided not to.

For those of us who couldn’t drive to campus during the snow storm, we sat with our hands tied and had little to do other than catch up on some reading for classes. You know, just to be ahead of the curve.

Class evaluations deserve respect

Most students fill out evaluations for each of their classes at the end of every semester. These forms, called Student Evaluation of Teaching, are generally 20 to 30 questions long. Most of the questions rate the class instructor along with how well students felt they learned the material.
