On Wednesday, April 15, a new student-led organization held “Barricade of Boxes.” I attended expecting students and faculty to be rallying for the homeless and trying to raise money from students living like the homeless. However, I was startled to see how students were really volunteering their time.
This is it, the last semester of my college career. No more tests, research papers, homework or pop quizzes. Thank goodness. This is not going to be one of those columns where I talk about how amazing it feels to graduate (even though it does). This is the last column I will ever write for The Horizon. So, I wanted to make it count.
On Monday, March 9, at approximately 2:30 p.m., I was hungry. I didn’t feel like getting in my car and heading to a fast food restaurant, so I decided to hit up the University Center Food Court. I ordered a turkey sandwich on a pita with pepper jack cheese, lettuce, pickles and mayo. Sounds easy enough.
Barack Obama won the presidential election by a landslide. The people have spoken. It was time for change and electing Obama is going to be the change people need. I’m happy my vote was heard and I’m excited to see what he will do in these tough economic times.
