Over the weekend the third-ranked IU Southeast men’s basketball team (13-3) defeated Alice Lloyd College (9-8) 92-75. It was the Grenadiers’ first home game in 14 days.
Though the game was won, IU Southeast men’s basketball coach Wiley brown wasn’t pleased with the performance of the team.
“I thought we played terrible tonight,” Brown said. “We have to be much tougher than that.”
IU Southeast was led in scoring by Jake Simpson,junior guard, who poured in 22 points, seven rebounds and three assists. Aishon White, junior guard, provided fire power off the bench with a much-needed 18 points, six rebounds and five assists.
Brown said he thought Alice Lloyd played well.
“That was a great team,” he said, “They weren’t just going to give it to us.”
Alice Lloyd was led in scoring by Tyler Rogers, sophomore guard and forward, with 21 points, 12 rebounds and four blocks.
IU Southeast remains undefeated in the Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
The men’s team also provided gifts and autographs to a group of children from the City of New Albany Parks and Recreation.
“It’s great to be able to do these type of things for the community,” Brown said.
Scheduling note: Tomorrow’s women’s basketball game at Berea College is now a doubleheader with the men’s team. The men’s game originally scheduled for today, Tuesday, Jan. 21, has been postponed due to winter weather. The IU Southeast women will now face Berea at 5:30 p.m. tomorrow (Wednesday, Jan. 22) night, followed by the men at 7:30 p.m.
