Some members of the Student Government Association challenged Dining Services’ ban on credit cards in their meeting on Thursday, Sept. 3.
James Bonsall, SGA president, said the meeting got heated when Melissa Hill, manager of campus card services, came in to answer questions.
“The senators were frustrated about the UCard,” Bonsall said. “It got a little heated at times, but we tried to remain civil.”
He said some of the members put down the UCard, and Hill got defensive.
Bonsall said it was a misunderstanding and they would be writing an apology letter to Hill.
He said the confusion happened because senators meant to voice their opinion about Dining Services not using credit cards, not complaining about the UCard itself.
He said they would discuss the apology letter in this week’s meeting on Sept. 10.
The SGA also formed a marketing committee for ideas to inform students about the upcoming recycling program.
The recycling program is set to begin at the end of September.
