Crime report brews alcohol improvement

IUS Horizon November 25, 2012
The Annual Campus Security Act and Fire Safety Report for 2011 was released on Oct. 1, showing a significant decrease in the number of crimes and arrests that took place on campus from 2009 and 2010. This report showcases information regarding campus crime statistics and procedures for fire safety, as well as statistics showing drug and alcohol violations on campus for the last three years. Charlie Edelen, IUS Police chief, said this report can be very useful for students who want to find out how safe the IUS campus is.

Lodge to fulfill need for housing

IUS Horizon August 26, 2012
IU Southeast broke ground for the newest campus lodge during a ceremony on April 25. Timber Lodge will be the sixth housing unit on campus with a projected opening in fall 2013 with an additional 76 beds. “Much like four years ago, this is also a very special moment for we seized upon a unique opportunity to add another lodge and thereby meet a growing student demand for living and learning on this beautiful campus,” Chancellor Sandra Patterson-Randles said. “This is indeed a very special milestone because this lodge, called Timber Lodge, will be our first LEED certified building on campus.”

More students, more dorms

IUS Horizon August 28, 2011
It was a bittersweet event for the Garrett family during Move-in Day as they helped Haley Garrett, nursing freshman, move into her new dorm room in Forest Lodge during Move-In Day Aug. 25. This will be Haley’s first time living on her own and apart from her home — about one hour away in Hanover, Ind. “It’s sad to see her go, but she’s 19,” Kenny Garrett, Haley Garrett’s father, said. “It’s time for her to go.”
