Police Blotter: Car drives through McCullough Plaza

While patrolling, an officer saw a vehicle driving on the sidewalk near McCullough Plaza at a high rate of speed. Four people were in the vehicle — none of them were IUS students. The driver, Joseph Brooks, 18, was arrested for reckless driving. The other three people were issued trespass warnings and were released. The vehicle was towed.

Student drinking, smoking reported

Sept. 17 at 12:03 a.m. Loud students and possible drinking was reported in Grove Lodge. However, the officer found no signs of alcohol. Sept. 20 at 5:20 p.m. A car in the Hickory Parking Lot had its doors open. An officer was dispatched. The owner was e-mailed, and IUS Police advised the car owner to call if items were missing.

Items stolen from Athletics

Aug. 20 at 7:10 p.m. An officer stopped a vehicle with heavily tinted windows. No citation was given because the student had a doctor’s note for the heavy window tint.

May 8 at 2:05 a.m. An officer responded to a complaint of marijuana smell in Meadow Lodge, but the officer was unable to locate the smell. There was another odor complaint in the same lodge about an hour...

April 4 at 8:30 p.m. An IUS Police officer pulled over Adam J. Noon, 19, for not stopping at a stop sign near the main entrance of IU Southeast. The officer smelled marijuana when Noon rolled down the window of his silver Honda, and, upon searching the vehicle, found both marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Noon was arrested and taken to Floyd County Jail.

March 22 at 9:19 a.m. A female Dining and Conference Services employee came into the IUS Police Department to file an injury report. She had been injured while setting up for a banquet when a table, leaning against a wall in the Dining and Conference Services hallway, slid and hit her in the head. She was not seriously injured, and the report was procedural.

March 12 at 4:30 p.m. IUS Police were dispatched to Hoosier Room East when a female student was injured during the Residence Life Face-off. The student injured her left middle finger while participating in a team-building activity that ended when another person stepped on her finger while using a wooden plank. I want to say something bad about team-building, but I’m pretty sure I don’t need to here.

No limbs injured when drunken driver hits tree

March 9 at 10:13 a.m. A vehicle rolled from its parking space in the Evergreen West Parking Lot and was blocking the path of through traffic. IUS Police contacted the student who returned the vehicle to its space. Hopefully, they engaged the parking brake this time.

Feb. 26 at 9:07 p.m. IUS Police investigated two reports of theft in Ogle Center. Two employees had cash stolen from their purses in separate incidents. No further information was available.
