On Oct. 10, the Hoosier Room was buzzing with conversations from every direction. The turnout was promising, it couldn’t have been a better day for a job fair.
“The big rush came around lunch time,” said Trey Lewis, director of IUS Career Development.
Many of the companies at the job fair were looking for part-time employees. Unique Management Services are looking to hire representatives for library material and recovery services.
“It is a great place to work for college students. We have flexible hours, good pay and w’ere located right in Jeffersonville,” said Jeanette Torrez, human resources generalist.
UPS is a staple at many job fairs, in large part due to their Metropolitan College program. With the minimal hours required, it makes it ideal for many college students that need help paying for school.
“All applications are to be submitted online through the UPS website,” said Jacob Rutledge.
FedEx is also hiring part-time package handlers. FedEx is located in Jeffersonville and could be an option for students who just need a little extra money.
Trans American is an insurance and investment company looking to hire representatives.
“I am really impressed by the turnout,” said Stewart Daily. Daily is an IUS student and sales manager.
Pet First provides insurance for your pets and are looking to hire for their customer service representatives.
This was a great job fair for student who are looking for part-time work. There were a handful of full-time entry level positions, but for the most part full-time positions were at a minimum.
