Many students at IU Southeast came to Hoosier room Monday, Nov. 18, to see what great deals they could get.
Every semester, the IUS Police host the Lost and Found Sale. This sale is similar to a yard sale on a Saturday morning.
At the sale, unclaimed lost items are sold at decent prices. The lost items sold have gone unclaimed for 90 days or more.
Chief Charles Edelen, chief of police at IU Southeast, said, “The storage area is over filling.”
USB drives, jackets, umbrellas, high heels, sunglasses and calculators were sold at the sale. USB drives were sold for 25 cents. There were two pairs of high heels on sale for $2 each. A back pack was sold for $2.
There are rumors around campus about where the money from this sale goes. Some are the money goes towards scholarships for students or it goes to charities such as the Salvation Army.
Edelen said all the money gained from the sale gets put into an account in the IUS Police Department.
Edelen said, “We use the money to help keep together the lost and found.” He said the IUS police buy plastic bags to hold all items turned into the lost found.
“The plastic bags helps keep the lost found area organized,” Edelen said.
He advises all students to get to the sale early every semester to make sure they get the items they want.
“This year there are only small items being sold, but in the past there have been bigger things,” he said.
In the past there have been bicycles for sale, Edelen said.
If you did not get the chance to make it to this sale, don’t worry. The Lost and Found sale happens every semester.
