Smoking is banned on the IU Southeast campus and violators can be fined if caught. But what about e-cigarettes?
According to the Tobacco Vapor Electronic Cigarette Association e-cigarette sales were projected to top $1 billion in 2013.
With more and more smokers using products such as Blu Cigs and EverSmoke instead of tobacco, we decided to ask IUS students if e-cigarettes should be allowed on campus.

Alexandra Ellis, Junior advertising.
“I don’t know a lot about them, I saw someone smoking one the other day and thought; oh no they’re smoking, but I didn’t smell anything I just thought it is wasn’t a big deal, it’s not hurting anyone…I don’t think.”

Jessica Davis, junior psychology.
“No, Cause if you had students who wanted to smoke a real cigarette they couldn’t and if they saw the smoke of a E-Cigarette and thought it was a real cigarette they might light up a real cigarette and it would cause a lot of chaos.”

Emilye Holder, senior German.
“I don’t mind them, they don’t smell as bad and are not emitting anything dangerous.”

Charles Waddell, freshman criminal justice.
“No, because the look of it, makes them look like a real cigarette.”
