The IUS English Club took part in LIT at Lunch on Sept. 30.
LIT at Lunch is a monthly get-together for English Club members. Members read aloud their new writings to the rest of the club.
Five English Club members and a few faculty were in attendance for this month’s lunchtime gathering.
English Club president, Melanie Smith, English junior, said the club has five members that come regularly and also has a few other students who show up at different times.
“With LIT at Lunch, we hope to have more traffic into writing club,” Smith said.
Tristan Williamson, English junior and club treasurer, read a poem he had written about why he would rather be locked up in Mexico.
Ian Girdley, English and journalism sophomore, read his poem titled “Jimmy In Just Sucks.” The poem was inspired by a person Girdley knew in his personal life.
A poem by Rachael Short, music composition senior, talked about the different seasons of the year.
Williamson and Girdley are taking their writings on the Arrested Poets Tour with them from Dec. 11 through 18.
Williamson said the tour will start in Louisville and will travel to New York, making stops to read their work along the way.
Most of the stops on the tour will take place at different coffee shops, Williamson said. The tour will also make a stop in Bloomington.
Smith said the outing will have a Halloween theme and she said she plans on dressing up for the next meeting.
In addition to the monthly LIT at Lunch outing, the English Club also has monthly meetings.
