The annual Wares of The World Fair Trade Festival was hosted in the Hoosier Room West on Nov. 2 to Nov. 3.
IUS students and faculty were able to observe and purchase different artwork and pieces from several countries including Africa, Latin American and the Middle East.
Fair trade items offered at the festival were African drums, tabltetop dishes, jewelry and home decor.
Fair trade means products are priced by the artisans to promote a fair price for products and ensure a practical income for artisans producing the product.
The festival was offered in cooperation with Ten Thousand Villages, one of the world’s largest fair trade organizations and founding member of International Fair Trade Association.
Ten Thousand Villages’ aims to establish a market of handmade products in North America and build buying relationships in larger markets to make a stable income.
