Marriage is supposed to be a union where couples share a common bond.
Sometimes the bond can mean going through the good, the bad and the ugly to test the true nature of love.
Love can mean being in love with someone outside of the same race, and love can be between those of the same gender.
California hit a huge milestone in August when Justice Vaughn Walker, a U.S. Federal Judge, overturned the controversial Proposition 8.
It is also known as the California Marriage Protection Act, which banned same-sex unions.
This sent a frenzy of gay and lesbian couples, who were in love, to their nearest courthouse to jump the broom.
I’m trying to figure out why there’s so much opposition against same-sex marriages in general. You hear religious leaders and politicians talk about how the sanctity of marriage needs to be protected and how this ruling goes against God’s plan.
Viewing all of the Sunday morning television shows, I see all of the popular politicians speaking out in defense of marriage.
What’s so funny about the whole situation is the ones who are being the most vocal about marriage are the ones who are committing adulterous acts on the side.
Who in the hell are they to tell someone what marriage is when they can’t stick to one person?
If marriage and family needs to be protected, where are these people with picket signs for those who are serial adulterers?
Hello Newt Gingrich, John McCain and you other political hypocrites.
When two people love each other, they have the right to decide whether they would like to create a life of togetherness.
People forget Boston Marriages existed during the Progressive Era where two women sought independence from men and had a common-law marriage without a sexual attachment.
Who could forget the Racial Integrity Act of 1924, which considered illegal and a felony for couples of different ethnicities to engage in marriage?
The Act was overturned in 1967 with the Loving vs. Virginia ruling, which considered banning interracial marriages unconstitutional.
These are just some of the examples of how marriage has evolved and how allowing same-sex marriages will be another drop in the bucket.
There are those who seek love and want to be in love but are denied love because of the imposed beliefs passed on in society.
In this world, you do what makes you happy.
If same-sex couples want to have a chance to create a union, the opportunity should be there.
If these couples can raise a family or raise children in a normal environment, why are those who are religious passing judgment?
The gay and lesbian community isn’t forcing their lifestyle down your throat, they’re just asking to be respected and have the same rights as a normal straight couple.
They’re asking to be respected and have the same rights as a normal straight couple.
Dictating to someone how they should live is hypocritical and immoral.
America was supposed to be a place where freedom of religion mattered, but it seems religion is placed in almost every law created.
People should put down the good book and focus on common sense, since most that are dismissing same-sex marriages are lacking it.
These idiots who continue to speak out in defense of the sanctity of marriage should know that no union is holy.
Stop with the antics and the unnecessary protesting. Let those who love each other live their lives as they please.
