Intramurals director spikes program into new year

The Intramurals Program delayed its activities for the 2012-13 school year while the Athletics Department searched to find a new intramurals director. After nearly a month of inactivity, Tom Dowling was hired to fill the position after Perry Brown, former intramural director, moved to Alabama to work for Talladega College. “I’m really excited for this position,” Dowling said, “and, even though I’m still in the process of figuring things out, I can’t wait to get everything started for this year.”

IUS Sports Network goes viral with live feed

Grenadier sports fans now have another reason to cheer. The IUS Athletics Department has launched an online network, which allows fans to stream live games. The Grenadier Sports Network is the brainchild of Joe Glover, athletic director, and Stephen Utz, sports information director.

Athletic trainer strives to keep athletes alive

Tiffany Hammond, head athletic trainer, has been working in the sports medicine scene at IU Southeast since 2002 and has worked at the Athletics Department for 10 years. Hammond provides athletic training for all seven intercollegiate varsity sports at IU Southeast. She is also a full-time head athletic trainer contracted through Kourt. “[My most memorable experience is] getting to work with the athletes and returning them to play after being hurt,” Hammond said.

New addition arrives in athletics
