In the early morning hours on Saturday, Oct. 17, people started to gather at the McCullough Plaza on the IU Southeast campus. They were there to walk in support of ending suicide at the Floyd and Clark County Out of the Darkness Community Walk. IU Southeast has hosted the event for the past 12 years and has partnered with the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. The number of participants has grown over the years to more than 200 walkers that include faculty, staff, students, and members of the community. Months before the event school and community members create and join teams to raise money. Each year they have raise over $10,000 in prevention awareness.
