Words of wisdom and physical gags filled the Show-Off Show on Wednesday, March 10.
Johnathon Burns and Evan Young make up the entertainment duo.
Young is a professional juggler and Burns is a comedian and contortionist.
The audience witnessed different stunts and was taught pranks they could do at home.
“The show was very eccentric and funny,” Andrew Crum, psychology junior, said. “I love how they incorporated the crowd in the show, and they even allowed a little kid to come up and do his own trick.”
The entire show was a showdown. Burns and Young competed against each other to see who would get to do the final trick of the evening.
Burns tricks consisted of physical tricks, such as contorting, but he also gave words of wisdom.
All of his words of wisdom were followed by an image on the projection screen behind him.
One of the words of wisdom was “everything seems more interesting in caps locks.”
The joke was followed by example words on screen in small print then followed by their “more interesting counterparts” in all caps locks.
Young’s tricks consisted of ways to trick your family members and friends.
He demonstrated tricks, such as writing messages on the bathroom mirror to scare people in the shower.
Young’s final trick of the night needed a volunteer.
“I volunteered because it looked like they were having fun so I wanted to take a part in it,” Meagan Sherrill, criminal justice sophomore, said.
Sherrill was asked to assist in the juggling act where Young would use a toilet brush, knife and bowling ball. He juggled these things while balanced on top of a rolling can and skateboard.
“I loved it, ” Sherrill said.
This was the second time the Student Program Council got the Show-Off Show to perform at IU Southeast.
“It was my first time attending one of their shows, but, if they come around this area again, I’d go and make all my friends go too.” Crum said.
