Walk into the IUS Police Department and you’ll smell that remodeled house smell that gives home-owners happy chills.
The IUS Police Department replaced their old furniture on Friday, March 26, with newer and better counters and desks.
Michael McNeal, office services assistant senior, helped plan the remodeling.
“Our furniture we had was originally purchased in 1997,” McNeal said.
However, the remodeling work isn’t completed yet. McNeal said the work should be completed in April.
He said there were drawers that wouldn’t work and a cash drawer that would always hit him in the knee. McNeal counted three pairs of pants that were ripped because the cash drawer hit his knee. Now, the cash drawer is in a much more convenient spot and McNeal’s pants are safe.
The IUS Police have been planning on this furniture replacement for quite some time, but it took time to get money from the campus, as well as getting the furniture brought in.
The IUS Police waited about a year for their $10,000 capital request to come in so that the order for the new furniture could be made.
A new wood look has replaced the green counters from before, which McNeal said pleases.
“It fits much better with what we have here,” McNeal said.
