The Hoosier Room was filled with the sound of music and cultural crafts on Oct. 24 and 25 to mark the sixth annual Wares of the World event.
The Wares of the World was hosted by the International Programs and featured handmade jewelry, personal accessories, home décor, art and sculptures.
These items were handcrafted to reflect the cultures of Asia, Africa, Latin America and the Middle East.
Carolyn Findley Musgrove, assistant professor of marketing, volunteered for the event and said most students came during the lunch hour.
“That’s when the majority of the people come because the cafeteria is right next to the Hoosier Room,” she said. “Otherwise, you’ll get some people when classes get out.”
The event was open to students, faculty, staff and members of the community.
The tables were placed in a U-shape, scattered with woven baskets, musical instruments and Christmas ornaments.
The array of items could be purchased with cash, check, debit or credit card.
Most of the proceeds from the sale went to support free trade and provide support for those who made the products, with 10 percent of the sales going toward scholarships for the Study Abroad Program.
