Hello Horizon readers! My name is Haley Warwick and I am your news editor for The Horizon news source! As news editor I want to know what’s going on at campus and in the community! If you know of cool stuff we should do stories on, let me know hwarwick@ius.edu. We’re working for you, so let us know what you want to read about. Anyway, about me—I started at The Horizon fall of 2014 and it’s been a fun and crazy ride so far! I started out my college career at JCTC. There I earned my AA degree in English and was really involved with Phi Theta Kappa, an international honor society. After transferring to IUS I had no idea what I wanted to do for a bachelor’s degree! I took a bunch of business classes, but I have an interest in just about everything—so how’s a girl supposed to choose? My Mom encouraged me to think honestly about what I was truly passionate about. With her advice in mind, that’s when I went with my gut and tried the journalism program. When I went to my first journalism class Professor Maksl flew a drone in the classroom and the rest was history. Okay, maybe it didn’t happen just like that, but still, the journalism program is where I found a way to put my many interests to work. (Really though, Professor Maksl did fly a drone in class one time.) But anyway, I guess I’ll tell you some random stuff about me. I love to read and I really like poetry. Poe and Longfellow are two of my favorite poets. I really love animals. Especially dogs and horses. I grew up with horses and spent some time pretty much every day when I was a teenager riding. I have an Australian Shepherd mix that’s a super grumpy old man and my parents have an English Bulldog that waves hello and goodbye. While I’ve met some pretty interesting people makin’ journalisms, the coolest person I know is my brother who is autistic. I’m a Kentucky Colonel and I was a Girl Scout for about ten years. I’m a fierce Whovian—if you don’t know what that is, you seriously should look it up. I’ve had a serious itch to travel outside of our country the past few years, and before I die I want to visit too many countries to begin to list.
