Hello fellow Grenadiers! My name is Joel Stinnett.
I was born and raised in Louisville and attended Saint Xavier High School, where I was the news and features editor of The Xavier News. Upon graduation I attended Western Kentucky University and was a sports writer for The Herald.
Unfortunately, Bowling Green, KY was too small of a town for me, so I decided to transfer to Manhattan College in New York City. While in New York I got my real estate license and began selling apartments in Brooklyn. Later I became a publicist and brand manager for a small record label. I loved the energy of NYC. I still miss walking amongst its skyscrapers and thinking about my day as I listened to the sounds of the city. But what I truly miss are the uniqueness of its people.

IU Southeast has its own unique people and contagious energy and it is our job at The Horizon to tell its story.

But we need your help. If you know of an interesting person, topic, or event on campus that you think The Horizon should cover please email me at joelstin@ius.edu. We are the STUDENT newspaper of IUS and we want to tell your story.

“I visited many of these countries in order to recruit students and I had a day off. I was in Saigon, Ho Chi Minh, and I was able to hitch a ride to the Mekong Delta, about an hour and a half south. Then I got on a series of boats because I wanted to go as far into that jungle as I could. I first boat I was on was big and could hold about 20 people,” Wallace said.
"As the river got smaller, so did the boats. Until he was a boat big enough for only him and the driver.
“She passed us (the woman in the photo), and I just loved that arch and the light around the boat.”

Greg Ezell, Jeffersonville, walks his daughter, Kymber, to their vehicle in the Indiana University Southeast parking lot following a lock-down stemming from reports of an armed gunman on campus. The false alarm was triggered after a student reported seeing what looked to be a gun handle sticking out of a camouflage backpack. Emergency responders arrived on campus around 1 p.m. where they identified the object as a large umbrella and the issue was then resolved.
